Supporting Communities to Benefit from the Energy Transition – Stakeholder Engagement Workshop – 24 April 2024

As a follow-up to the Community Energy Event held by East Cambridgeshire Climate Action Network in June 2023, the Network is supporting Cambridgeshire County Council’s Stakeholder Engagement Workshop on the 24 April 2024. The workshop is entitled “Supporting Communities to Benefit from the Energy Transition”

The aim of the event is to gather stakeholder input for a forthcoming consultation and Action Plan on how the County Council proposes to support communities to benefit from the transition to a clean energy system. The event will include presentations and discussion sessions on Local Area Energy Planning, Community Energy and options for inclusion in the Action Plan.

The workshop will take place on  24th April 2024, 19:00-22:00 hrs in the Kempen Room, Ely Maltings, Ship Lane, Ely Cambridgeshire CB7 4BB. It will be of interest to local communities towns and parishes who want to gain a better understanding of how to develop local community energy plans and how this will have an impact of the wider region. 

The event will include:

  • Presentations on:
    • Local Area Energy Planning (LAEP)
    • Community Energy
    • Council Action Plan options for supporting community energy and domestic retrofit
  • Discussion sessions on:
    • How communities can feed into LAEP and make use of the tools and data it generates
    • Which options for inclusion in a County Council Action Plan are most useful and are there additional options that should be considered
