Working with Action on Energy East Cambridgeshire, Community Energy South and East Cambridgeshire District Council – East Cambridgeshire Climate Action Network is now offering FREE initial Home Energy Advice from January until the end of March 2025 – to home owners, tenants and landlords. We don’t want to leave anyone behind in not having a cosy energy saving home that also helps to reduce carbon emissions for our planet.

Private Landlords are only allowed to rent a property if it meets the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) regulations. In 2022, emissions from residential buildings accounted for a fifth (20%) of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. The Climate Change Committee (CCC), the government’s advisory body, said the UK will not meet its emissions targets “without near complete decarbonisation of the housing stock”. In July 2024 the UK Parliament published a Research Brief on Housing and Net Zero. This briefing considers the approach to housing, energy efficiency and net zero, providing an overview of government policy and commentary on these issues.
